Frequency Specific Microcurrent

What is Frequency Specific Microcurrent?

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) delivers ultra-low electrical current in the microampere range (millionths of an amp). At this level, the current doesn't stimulate nerves like a TENS unit does. Instead, it works at the cellular level.

Research suggests that:

  • ATP production (the cell’s energy source) can increase up to 500% with the right FSM frequencies applied to the right tissue.

  • Protein synthesis increases by approximately 40%, one of the mechanisms that supports tissue regeneration.

  • Inflammatory cytokines, particularly IL-1 (a major driver of chronic inflammation), drops measurably, sometimes within minutes of applying the correct frequency pair.

The "frequency specific" part is what separates FSM from generic electrical therapy. The device runs pairs of frequencies — one that corresponds to a condition (inflammation, fibrosis, scarring, nerve irritation) and one that corresponds to a specific tissue (muscle, nerve, disc, fascia, tendon, scar).

In our clinic, we often combine FSM with acupuncture therapy.

What to Expect

Treatment Course

The number of treatments you’ll need depends on a few very crucial factors: how long you’ve had the condition, how severe it is, your baseline health and any underlying conditions that impact how fast your body heals.

The Process

Frequency Specific Micro-current therapy is a stand-alone treatment, or can be administered in conjunction with acupuncture. At the beginning, we’ll see you 2 to 3 times a week to bring you relief as quickly as possible. Then we taper off as you progress.

Quick and Pain-Free

This is a needle-free therapy and you’ll be in and out of our office in less than an hour.

Absence of Symptoms

Treatments can, and often do result in either the absence or control of symptoms, even in severe conditions that have been going on for a long time.
